The classic Parmigiano Reggiano is cut and vacuum packed in portions:

1/4 of a wheel (about 9 kg)
1/8 of a wheel (about 4,5 kg)
1/32 of a wheel (about 1 kg)
1/44 of a wheel (about 700gr)
1/64 of a wheel (about 500gr without crust)
1/96 of a wheel (about 300gr without crust)

If it is kept at a controlled temperature between 5° and 8° C the quality remains unaltered for about 180 days. Seasoning from 18 to 30 months.
